With her heart on her sleeves and her guitar in her hand, 19 year old singer songwriter Bethy Grace uses her country charm and real life ventures to inspire relatable songs written with a level of sophistication, grace and worldliness seldom seen in a teenager.
Combining traditional country storytelling with a modern-but-classic twist, Bethy envisions music reflecting strains of pop, rock and alternative genres allowing her to experiment with her own unique sound which, when combined with sagacious lyrics, brings the timeless fundamentals of country music to the modern world.
Drawing upon real life experiences, emotions and aspirations Bethy, sometimes too perfectly, captures the disposition of her peers. Constantly being commended on her clever hooks and captivating bridges, Bethy puts a high priority on creating earnest and intelligent discourse through her songs. Never dreaming of the affect her words would have on those around her, Bethy always focused on her own stories as a way of gaining perspective on her life. From this she learned just how powerful and underrated an honest lyric is, igniting the spark on making a lifelong pipe dream a reality.
Bethy’s love and passion for music eminated from a professional musician father, a pianist grandfather and a whirlwind of other musical ancestry. As soon as she could talk, Bethy was singing. Some of her earliest memories are climbing on any stage she could as a toddler to sing. At the age of 10, Bethy received her first guitar after a year of playing the ukulele, before long she had penned her first track titled ‘My Loving Heart’ which became a favourite among her peers, actualising her first real performance of her own music at her schools end of year event.
From playing weekly lunchtime gigs in highschool and spending her breaks in the school studio, to playing festivals, Bethy has always taken any opportunity to exploit her captivating stage presence, intrinsic original music and cleverly remixed covers: every piece carefully chosen to showcase her individual sound and style.
Bethy aims to record her first ep in 2017, she is definitely an artist to watch for the future.
